Oge Okoye Rocks African prints at COSON event

The clarion call has been on for quite a while about the desire to get our celebrities project the clout of interest and power at their disposal to promote native products and businesses as opposed to already established brands which further limits the exposure of local brands.
The Guccis, Louis Vuittons, etc are global brands with huge financial incentives to lure more and more customers each day, especially with the endorsement relations they have with Hollywood juggernauts. So when Nollywood artistes follow suit with that and adopt the foreign brands, it only limits the projection of local brands that can be further popularized.
Both Genevieve Nnaji and John Dumelo have aggressively promoted their labels (St Genevieve and J.Melo) and we need to encourage that. For others who haven’t been able to achieve that yet, it’s equally important that they represent up and coming labels that need exposure through the clout they wield. So it’s refreshing to see Oge Okoye adorn a local wax print.
