On Thursday, a businessman named Ayodele Olaoye narrated how his 23-year-old sex mate named Esther connived with other kidnappers to abduct him and collect N5 million ransom from his family.
According to reports, the kidnap incident occurred on April 22, 2012. Ayodele met the girl at a club called Pegas in Opebi. However, Esther told him that her name is Jane and that she is a student of LASU (Lagos State University).
Their friendship became deeper when they started to sleep together. He said Esther asked him on April 22, 2012 to come to her hostel in LASU. He said that he carried her in his Nissan Murano SUV from a Guaranty Trust Bank branch at Opebi, Ikeja that day.
He also said that she introduced him to her schoolmates who were armed with an axe and some knives. They took his mobile phone, wrist watch, and necklace. They tied him up, blindfolded him, and taken to an unknown destination.
He said that the suspects asked him to cooperate or else, they will kill him. Esther even told him to convince his parents to pay the ransom money. According to a witness, Ayodele was held by the kidnappers for 4 days.
The suspects called his parents and demanded N60 million ransom. His father, whose name is Segun Olaoye, paid N5 million to the kidnappers. According to Ayodele, he managed to sneak outside the house and escape while the kidnappers were sharing the ransom money.
“I took a motorcycle and told him to go and drop me at my father’s office on Gowon Estate in Iyana-Ipaja. After then, I wrote a statement to the police…,” he said.
Esther is currently being prosecuted alongside other suspects named Patricia Nna (26), Kingsley Okonwa (24), Osita Adigwe (35), Uzochukwu Ezioha (25), Jude Sunday (36), and Michael Olarenwaju (31).
They were arraigned on March 5. They are facing a 5-count charge of armed robbery, conspiracy, and kidnapping. However, all of them pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. They are currently under prison custody.
